Sayano-Shushenskaya Hydro Power plant was being restored in 2011. The road was to ensure a reliable and unrestrained transportation of heavy loads (up to 300 t) for restoration of the HPP equipment.
Geospan GT PP 50 woven geotextile made by Gexa – Nonwoven Materials OOO was used at the interface of the subgrade and the road pavement layers of optimized gravel-sand mixture. The fabrics were promptly delivered by Gexa-Siberia Trading House.
The material was laid during June to September of 2011. The work was done according to the Rules of laying of Geospan woven geotextile in the subgrade and the road pavement base.
Based on the experience of this work, it was confirmed that the material was easy to use with the laying time minimized.
Geospan GT PP 50 geotextile use resulted in no rutting and an increase in the road pavement carrying capacity. During August to September of 2011, several extra heavy loads passed over the road without any delay of time. There were neither deformation nor performance deterioration found in the refurbished road.
