Chuisky Trakt R-256 federal motorway is a most important transport corridor of the Western Siberia passing through Novosibirsk region and Altay region to the border with Mongolia. The road section at hand was located in Chumysh river area and faced periodic underflooding. As a result, the embankment foundation made of heaving soils was overwetted that required effective engineering solutions to prevent the pavement settlement and defects. Geospan GT PP 80 woven geotextile of high strength was proposed to be installed as a geotextile interlayer for this purpose.
A calculation of the road pavement structure, assisted by Indor pavement program, was carried out by Gexa engineers in accordance with the valid norms. The calculation showed that Geospan GT PP 80 use increased the road structure’s overall elastic modulus and the subgrade’s shear margin. The project was covered by a report in Altay. News TV program.
The contractor Severo-Vostochnoye DSU laid 70,000 m2 of reinforcing geotextile in 2016.
